You name the sweepstake, pick the competition (a World Cup, the Euros, the Champions League or a league season), add the people taking part (members or just guest names), and click Draw. Teams are randomly assigned one per entrant - or one team from each of the tournament's seeding pots, if you'd rather everyone got a strong and a weaker team. After the draw everyone can see who's got which team and follow their team's progress through the groups and the bracket.
